Hello there,

I hope you're doing well today. This is Christopher from the Fire Underwriters Survey. I?m contacting you looking to collect fire hydrant location data (pressurized and dry hydrants), parcel data, and civic address data/points for the NV of Cumberland House, SK in the form of a PDF/JPEG map, CAD file (DWG file), or GIS shape files as part of a national initiative to update Canadian Fire Insurance Protection Grades. Please also let me know if your area does not have any hydrants and I will take note of that in my records.

I would really appreciate it if you could pass this email on to the person or department responsible for any spatial data relating to the topics listed above if you are not the right person to be contacting. Thank you!

Why Do We Need the Data?
The fire hydrant data will be used to develop fire insurance grade maps for your area and to determine areas within communities that can be classified as hydrant protected. Our current task is updating fire insurance grades to ensure municipalities are given the correct grade in consideration for any advancements made to municipal water system infrastructure, and to collect and convert updated hydrant data to a digital format. Property owners can benefit from these updates with significantly reduced insurance rates. The address data will be used to increase the accuracy of the index.

About Us
The Fire Underwriters Survey is a national organization which evaluates fire risk and grades fire protection levels in communities across Canada by taking into consideration fire protection services, water system infrastructure, fire safety control, and emergency communications. These grades are published in the Canadian Fire Insurance Grading Index, which is used by insurance companies to determine appropriate insurance rates.
